Pride, NYC

Portland has the most politically active LGBTQ community, but New York City’s quarter million gay population number towers over all other communities.  Known just as “Pride” here, the parade mirrors the  diverse spectrum within that culture:  The irreverent Imperial Court of New York (drag Queens) and  Dykes on Bikes on the one hand, and enormous sociopolitical conscience displayed in floats on the other.
