The Outer Bridge
Scott Brock
Puerto Rican Day, NYC
Of all the Puerto Rican Day parades I have been to, I don't remember a single float or any of the important politicians and marchers in the streets. I just remember the charismatic exuberance, the warm invitation in the faces of those who watch, and their earnest openness displayed honestly as they moved through the streets. The strength of their cultural and familial pride is so immediately enthusiastic; it’s as if that pride is worn like a hat, or waved like a flag - for all to see and join.
