Where The Van Meets The Land & The Sky,

Subtle Enigmas

For a photograph, enigma is a neighbor to the ethereal.  Elements inside the frame feel normal and clear... and then, at capture, they are not so immediately obvious; they need a viewer’s interpretation to create a fuller meaning.  This is what closely approximates fictional filmmaking - the interpolation of what you see and hear.  In a photograph, this is not rehearsed, so it has a documentary veneer.  In this context, these are the hardest images for any artist to make.  They come from within our personal, sometimes quirky, storehouse of our process of imagination.
