Graffiti Portraits

Graffiti is nearly primordial, since it’s been with us throughout recorded human history, beginning with cave dwellers.  It has always been a way for all people to express themselves completely freely when society will not offer the means to do so.  Like the street itself, graffiti for me is both an unending adventure of discovering someone’s very personal quest and an understanding of a tagger’s need to leave an indelible and important imprimatur upon this earth.  I feel less like a photographer and more of a visual griot, capturing the urgency at the time I discover it.
